Upgrades experienced through Z-Wave Plus compared to previous Z-Wave generations include up to 50% greater wireless range, enhanced internal memory to add unique parameters for improved customization, and over-the-air updates to make the latest features available as quickly as possible. Z-Wave is universal, meaning the first Z-Wave switch model, the newest Z-Wave Plus device, and every Z-Wave-certified item in between are compatible. The switch offers variable motion settings, allowing you to personalize it with three motion-detection options: occupancy, vacancy, and manual. Occupancy mode turns lights on and off automatically, while the vacancy setting turns lights on manually and off automatically. To deactivate the motion sensor, select manual operation.

The switch also features a light-sensing option. In occupancy mode, you can choose to allow the switch to activate anytime motion is detected or only in low-light situations. Additionally, the switch offers custom operation with 5 time-out duration options ranging from 5 seconds to 30 minutes and 3 motion-sensitivity levels, accommodating any room with varying amounts of activity.

The switch comes with white and light almond buttons to match your existing switches, and additional colors of the easily changeable buttons are available. It is also multi-switch compatible, allowing you to easily replace any standard in-wall switch equipped with a neutral wire in single-pole or multi-switch setups when paired with add-on switches (model 46199). You can connect up to 4 add-on switches to the same light, fan, or appliance.

Finally, the switch acts as a range extender, repeating your Z-Wave signal from your hub or other Z-Wave device to extend your range by up to 150ft. This extended signal range increases your home automation coverage and enhances your control.
